MOTORIST FOR TRIAL

By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne, December 18.

A holiday visitor to Gisborne, Allan Arthur Lawson, Palmerston North, was committed for trial by Mr. E. L. ■Walton, S.M., on a charge of failing to stop after an accident. A charge of intoxication while in charge of a car was dismissed by the magistrate. The evidence showed that the accused’s car struck a member of a group of carolling bandsmen, who was dragged several feet. The car did not stop and accused was subsequently arrested at a motor camp. Two doctors gave evidence that he was not intoxicated and was fit to drive.
