Senior Championship Averages

KILBIRNIE’S STRENGTH (By Burwood.) The averages of the players taking part in the Wellington Cricket Associations senior championship competition up to the conclusion of the fourth series ot matches serve to reveal the all-round strength of *he Kilbirnie team. . Two of the Kilbirnie batsmen, W. Bain and S Ward, have averages of more than 100 and W. S. Coltman, ex-captain ot the Manly club’s senior team in Sydney, ie close up with an average of l-'e Kilbirnie team also possesses two outstanding bowlers, J. Ashenden and D b. Wilson, both of whom have already taken more than 20 wickets each at moderate C °J t .’ R. Sheffield, the ex-Essex professional did exceptionally well for Institute Old Boys, scoring 194 runs tn the three innings he played, which returned him the solid average of 64.33. E. McLeod, captain of the Hutt team, has done well with the bat this season, having scored 259 runs, at an average of 51.80. In bowling the honours are shared by R. O’Neill, Midland, who has taken 31 wickcte atNthe good average of 10.74, and E. D. Blundell, Wellington, who has gathered in 33 wickets at a cost of 12.(8 runs a wicket. The only other bowler who has taken more than 20 wickets is R. Buchan, Institute Old Boys, who has captured 22. nt the low cost of 10.45 a wicket. _ Following are the complete batting and bowling averages in the senior championship competition tp date

Kilbirnie.

The umpires for the Plunket Shield match between, Wellington and Canterbury, which is to commence at Wellington on December 31, will be Messrs. J. B. Watson and C. Moore. Messrs. F. W. Harris-Daw and M. L. Pengelly will officiate as umpires in the Brabin Shield match between Wellington and Auckland, at Wellington.
