Auckland Mayoralty And Local Body Elections

Auckland, December 15.
A candidate for the mayoralty of Auckland is to be furnished by the Labour Party, according to the secretary of the Auckland Labour Representation Committee, Mr. T. P. McCready. Jn addition, the party intends to contest the local body elections which are to be held next May, and anticipates putting a large number of candidates into the field for the Auckland City Council, Auckland Harbour Board, Auckland Electric Power Board, and Auckland Hospital Board seats. The candidates, said Mr. McCready, will be selected by ballot on January 27, voting being on the preferential system. The various branches and bodies affiliated Io the party had already started Io send forward a large number of nominations for the various positions, and greater interest was being shown in the municipal elections than ever before.
