Pacific Fortifications

Toronto, December 14

The Minister of Defence, Mr. lan Mackenzie, in a speech at the Military Institute, outlined the Government’s revised plans for the fortification of the Pacific and Atlantic coasts. ' “At present,” he said, “we are concentrating on the Pacific coast, for strategical reasons which all will appreciate. The construction of new,fortifications at Esquimalt, Vancouver and York Island is under way.”
