ROAD DEDICATION
♦ New Access To Foxton Beach Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, December 15. Representations made to the Manawatu County Council for the opening up of a road from Himatangi to the Foxton bea_ch to give access to a new beach settlement sponsored by private enterprise were discussed at the meeting of the council yesterday. The interests conccritec submitted that it was opportune for the council to approach the Public Works Department, and suggested that the council give an undertaking to accept dedication on the road being out through by the department. ,The council decided to advise the department that it would accept dedication of the proposed road provided the department would give an absolute undertaking to form and metal the road to the council’s specifications. Members emphasised, however, that the cojincil should not be loaded with any costs in connection with the new road and contended that the whole of the liability should he carried by the prompters of the scheme.
