NEW LECTERN

Unveiling At St. John’s

Church

A lectern in memory of the late Mr. William Hopkirk will be unveiled aud dedicated at St. John’s Church, Wellington, at the morning service to-mor-row. Th© late Mr. Hopkirk was an elder of the church for 48 years and a member for 63 years. At his death it was decided that a lectern should be placed in the church; With a carved, panelled, and enriched base, finished at each side with buttressed ends, the lectern has been designed in the style of the decorative period of Gothic architecture to harmonise with the design of the Communion table. It is built of EnglitJi oak and is finished with the traditional cathedral wax finish. It was designed by Mr. W. Gray Young»of Gray, Young, Morton, and Young, and built by Mr. A. Martin. The carving was done by Mr. C. Styles.
