Two One-Act Plays Presented

Two delightful one-act plays were presented last night to an appreciative audience at the Repertory Studio in Hannah’s Building. The occasion was a farewell evening, organised by the drama circle of the league to Miss Valmai Cramond, who is leaving to take up nursing.

Mrs. J. A. Doctor, president, made a brief: speech, in which she referred to Miss Cramond’s great interest in tlie league, for which she has done much work as a member of the committee, and as an active supporter of the drama circle. Miss Cramond, who was presented with a bouquet of carnations and sweet peas, expressed her regret, at leaving the league and extended her good wishes for its success in future years.

Concerning tlie plays, Mrs. Doctor said how grateful the league was to the Repertory Society, who had so kindly lent their hall and also to Mr. IV. Johnstone, Air. George College. Mr. Ralph Hogg and Mr. Hugh Wall, who had assisted in many ways.

The first play. “My Kingdom for a ——was an amusing little tale of a very human princess who was more interested in the local doctor than affairs of Slate. It was produced by Miss Ruth Skerman, and the players were the Misses Noeline Cramond, Muriel Hunt, Margaret Armour, Irene Norris, Jean Dempster, Frances Gardiner, Myfanwy Davies, F. Clarice Sunley and Evelyn Robins. A farce entitled "World Without Men,” was produced by Mrs. Bessie McKinlay. It depicted, a little bitingly, the stimulating effect on a number of women of the news that all the men in the world had been wiped out

except one. This mercifully proved to be a dream, but not before a great deal of amusement had been provided for the audience. The players were Mrs. Hampton-Brown, Mrs. McKinlay, Misses Irene Noris, Ruth Skerman, Patricia Gledhill, Nell Kendall and Olga Dray. Between the plays musical items were given by Mrs. Audrey GibsonFoster and Mrs. Fiebig. At the conclusion of the programme supper was served in the Pioneer Club rooms and later a dance was held in the Repertory Studio.

To mend a hole in a tub, roof, etc., paint the hole first with any kind of old paint, and, while it is wet, dab putty on it. It sets like cement.
