The Countess of Hardwicke, widow of the eighth Earl of Hardwicke, who arrived at Auckland by the Monterey on a month's visit to the Dominion. Before her marriage the Countess was Miss Ellen Russell, daughter of the late Mr. James Russell, a well-known Auckland lawyer. She went to England in 1900, and although she has travelled extensively had not returned to New Zealand until now.
