Ancient Order Of Druids
The quarterly meeting of Coronation Lodge No. 26, United Ancient Order of Druids, was presided over by A.D. Bro. W. Cooper, the attendance being a record for tlie year. D.P. Bro. A. Clouston paid his first official visit as district president of No. 21 District, and was received with. Druidic honours. R.A.D. Bro. H. J. Willis and R.V.A.B. Bro. A. E. Clements were present as examining officers of the Royal Arch Chapter, and were accorded a hearty welcome to the lodge. The election of officers resulted as follows: — A.D., Bro. E. Taylor; V.A., Bro. A. E. Clements; 1.G., Bro. ML liarfield; 0.G., Bro. P. Gray; A.D.8.. Bi;os. J. H. Phillips and C. W. Jorgenson ; V.A.8., Bros. J. Phillips and J. Pailthorpe: minute secretary and M.C., Bro_ T. Smithson; Press reporter, Bro. N. A. Ingram; delegate to dispensary, Bro. W. Cooper; Medical Institute. Bro. T. Smithson;' Hospital Association, Bro. T. Smithson; J.P.A.. Bro. ML Cooper; bon. auditor, Bro. F. Zantuck; social stewards, Bros. J. H. Phillips. J. Phillips. J. Pailthorpe, ML Harfield and G. Brafd; game stewards. Bros. ML Cooper, R. Rodgers and G. Braid; delegates to R.A.C., Bros. A. E. Clements and W. Cooper. It was decided to attend the annual Christmas festival of the Melrose Lodge on December 21. The selector of the team to represent the lodge in the forthcoming ritual competition for the Mooney’ Shield announced the following to take the offices : A.D., Bro. A. C. Jorgenson; J.P.A., Bro. P. Gray; V.A., Bro. ML Cooper: secretary, Bro. N. A. Ingram; M.C.. Bro. J. H. Phillips. The lodge accepted an invitation to attend the Excelsior Lodge on Monday, December 6. to hear Bro. Kobar give an address on his recent visit to the islands of the Pacific. Bro. F. Matthews, lion, secretary, bowls association,. reported that the Coronation Lodge teams A and B were to play off for the final of the president’s shield. Bro. T. A. Mollison reported that all arrangements were well in hand for the annual Druidic picnic to be held at Trentham racecourse on New Year’s Day. A hearty vote of thanks for their attendance was conveyed to the district president and examining officers of the R.A.C., the latter reporting that, the candidates examined for office had passed the tests with great credit to themselves and the lodge. Bro. Sherwood presided over a large attendance of members and visitors at a recent meeting, of Loyal Petone Lodge, Manchester Unity, Independent Order of Oddfellows. One honorary member was initiated into the lodge. It was resolved to ask the" district officers to install the new officers at the next meeting. Bro. A. Foote stated that the Nelson Lodge had advised that their cricket team would visit the M’ellington team at Christmas, and it was necessary to make arrangements for their entertainment. . Bro. Sherwood welcomed the Britannia Lodge bowls teams, and Bro. Moss replied expressing appreciation of the honours of the order.
