The job of tightening a castellated nut to the rldit point a.t which the securing split-pin can be introduced is simplified if a line is filed on the end of the bolt in such a way as to indicate the position of the .hole which is drilled for the split-pin. If it is found that when in the right position the nut is not tight enough, the inner face of the nut may be filed lightly and evenly to permit of its being firmly screwed up.
