FORECAST FOR TO-DAY’S WEATHER.
Still Generally Fine, With Cold Nights And Warm Days.
Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. to-day: — The general situation remains practically unchanged. An anti-cyclone still covers the Tasman Sea and extends on to the Dominion. Secondary depressions continue to affect the southern portion of the South Island, a rather deep one having passed yesterday. Conditions are somewhat disturbed in the north
Tasman. South-westerly winds predominating, but north-westerly or westerly prevailing in most eastern districts and about Cook and Joveaux Straits; moderate to strong generally and of gale force at times in the latter areas. Seas rough in the Cook and Foveaux Straits areas, and a considerable swell on the west coast of the South Island; elsewhere in New Zealand waters slight
to moderate. Moderate to strong southerly to south-westerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, seas moderate in the northern portion and rather rough to rough in the
southern portion. Weather still for the most part fine, with cold night but mild day temperatures. Further scattered showers probable, however, in the western and southern districts of the South Island.
