The engagement of Lady Elizabeth Percy, 21-year-old sister of the Duke of Northumberland, to the Marquess of Clydesdale, announced last month, calls to mind the centuries-old feud between the two families.. Lady Elizabeth was one of the loveliest of the Queen’s trainbearers at the Coronation, and Lord Clydesdale piloted a machine over Mount Everest. The feud between (he Douglasses and the Percys was immortalised in the ballads of “Otterburn” and “Chevy Chase.”
