LAND SPEED RECORD
Eyston To Make Further Attempt (Received November 3, 11.30 p.m.) .New York, November 3. A message from Bonneville (Utah) says that Mr. G. E. T. Eyston will make another attempt on the speed record within a week. He is confident of setting a new record, which was denied him on the last occasion owing to a clutch failure preventing him from retracing his course as required. Repairs are now complete. Experts believe the -Thunderbolt is capable of reaching 350 miles an hour, but the opinion is expressed that 315 will be the maximum, due to the strain on the tyres. Eyston said the throttle ■was not fully opened on the last occasion.
