Batty, of the Bank of New South Wales, was a passenger in the steamer express to the south last night. Flight Lieutenant E. M. Grundy was a passenger in the Wahine, which left Wellington for Lyttelton last night. Mr. S. Ritchie, conciliation commissioner, arrived at Wellington from the south yesterday.

Professor R. W. Souter, Dunedin, returned to the south Inst night by the steamer express.

Mr. D. J. Barry, Gisborne, was a passenger to the south on the steamer express last night. Mr. F. N. Ambler, president, of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association, arrived at Wellington yesterday.

Mr. Stronach Paterson, managing director of A. S. Paterson an'd Co., ’Ltd., left Wellington last night in the steamer express.

Mr. W. R. Fee, president of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, passed through 'Wellington yesterday on his way to the annual conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce at Timaru.

Messrs. A. J. Curtis (president), P. E. Pattrick (vice-president), and R. H. Nimmo, delegates to the annual conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce, which is to be held at Timaru, left Wellington last night in the steamer express.

Messrs. P. O. O’Brien (Toowoomba, Queensland), J. P. Erdman (Honolulu). G. A. Nicholls (Gisborne). W. Power (Auckland), W. U. Webley (Christchurch), and A. L. Singer (Gisborne) were visitors to the Wellington Rotary Club’s weekly luncheon yesterday.

Mr. H. 11. Higgins, who is at present confined to his bed as the result of an accident to his foot which occurred last week-end, was granted leave of absence at the monthly meeting of the Wellington Manufacturers’ Association last night. Mr. Higgins is president of the association.

Mr. R. L. Button, who has been on a lengthy visit to Britain, was given a hearty welcome home by the members of the Wellington Rotary Club yesterday. He brought special greetings from the London, New York and Longbeach (California) clubs, and also stated that there wtr s a Rotary gathering on nearly every trip of the Queen Mary, (he purser being the Rotarian honorary secretary of the Queen Mary Club.
