FINAL GALLOPS

Fog Prevents Timing MAORI SONG IMPRESSES (By The Watcheb.) The final gallops at Trentham yesterday morning were not productive ot much information. The bulk of the work consisted of pipe-opening tasks and it. was clear that the majority of the trainers were satisfied with the recent racing form, or had finished off their preparations on the home track. The weather was fine, but very cold after a hard frost, with fog and mist hanging about at sunrise, which did not disperse until just before the breakfast interval. A lot of the work was done when timing was impossible. Red Sun was the first to work, and he went a solid mile on the plough in 144. He blew hard afterward, but he is worked with a nose-band, which causes him to blow. Sunee, Good Sun and Mishna also did good work on the plough. Geira sprinted four in 49. On the outside of the course proper, Great Hope ran a half' in 48 4-5, and The Bigot took 50, both working well. On the plough, Lowenberg went very well to hold Lickem comfortably at the end of five furlongs. They went leisurely over the first furlong, but ran the last half in 49. Malibu ran away from Dawning Light in 1.17 for six, and worked well. , ... Maori Song, picked up by Min Lu. sprinted well over five on the course proper, but the mist was too thick to get the jump-off. The last half took 50. Maori Song went particularly well. Also on the course proper, Laughing Lass was in front of Oratory over four in 49 Tint Oratory was not knocked about. There was little between Soho and Tiger Gnin at the end of seven in 1.30, the last half in 52. . Wagner and Sulieman sprinted three furlongs down the straight. Oueen of Song, on the plough, was given about a mile of strong pacing. She was always anxious to go and pulled hard at the finish. She looks well enough nnd may bring off a surprise return to form. , ~ Minga nnd Amigo ran down the straight and Lord Cavendish, ttiOUEn Diana Tetrix finished in front of him. imnressed by his muscular condition Cardsharper. with H. Gray in the saddle strode over six furlongs on me course proper, but did not co fnst. H? looks n greatly improved horse. Te Hero did not make the trip. A.
