Five Bills were introduced by Governor-General’s Message and read a first time in the House of Representatxves yes erday The appointment of an Army Board to exercise jurisdiction the land forces of the Dominion, the: establishmentof an A Department to deal with matters relating to aviation, and tie establishment of the Royal New Zealand Air Force and the apnointment of an Air Board are provided for by three of the 8i1.... A fourth measure separates the Commercial Broadcasting Service from the National Broadcasting Service, and another abolishes the draft allowance in favour of the buyer when wool is sold in NeW N^sly n one hour and a half was occupied in the introductory stages of these Bills. Consideration of reports of select committees occupied the remainder of the afternoon, there being no opportunity to discuss Ministerial answers, to questions which had been circulated to members at the beginning of the sitting. The debate on the Financial Statement was continued in the evening. Mr. A. G. Hultquist (Government, Bay of Plenty), whose remarks had been interrupted by the adjournment the previous night, completed his speech. He was followed by the Minister of Public Works, Hon. R. Semple, and later in the evening the Minister of Mines, Hon. P. C. Webb, also took part. Mr. Semple said the Government had no intention of gobbling up all the transport services of the country, but he did not think licences should ever have been issued to services which were competing directly with the railways. The Governments public works policy was defended by Mr. Webb, whose speech was interrupted by the adjournment at 10.30 p.m.
