Last Year’s Net Profit

A net profit of £80,955/15/- was made from the £5OOO gold art unions held during the year ended March 31 last, according to the annual report of the Department of Internal Affairs for that period which was presented in the House of Representatives yesterday. Eleven of these are unions were held, and the gross sales amounted to £224,657/5/-. Commission on sales amounted to £33,698/12/1, expenses to £32,537 3/5, prizes to £55,000, net proceeds to £103.421/9/6, aud lottery duty to £22,465/14/6. Of the net profit of £80,955 15/-, £66,850 was allocated for the relief of distress. This makes a total of £235,000 made available during the past four and a half years from the art unions to the various mayoral aud other recognised central funds established for the relief of distress.
