NO PARKING

Wellington City Council’s Decision The Wellington City Doucil's “noparking” decision on Monday follows a recent announcement by the city engineer (Mr. K. E. Luke) to the effect that it was proposed to prohibit parking altogether in certain mid-city streetSj in order to give a little more freedom to moving traffic. The council has decreed that there shall be no parking of care at any time in Dixon Street, Egmont Street, Taranaki Street and Tory Street on and after' November 1. Car-parking is prohibited between the hours of S ami. and 6 p.m. in the following streets:—Willis Street, Cumberland Place, Peter Street, Bute Street, Garrett Street, Marion Street, Leed Street, Eva Street. Jessie Street, Inglewood Place. York Street, tlolland Street, Jacob Place, Ghuzuee Street (between Willis and Taranaki Streets), Dixon Street (between Willis and Taranaki Streets), Vivian Street (between Willis and Taranaki Streets), Courtenay Place (from Taranaki Street to Cirmbridge Terrace). The neighbourhood in which most of these streets are situated is, in the working hours, one of the most congested in the city, it is the garage and factory area of the city and not infrequently small jobs are done to cars on the road outside some of these places. That has to be stopped. For the future no car owner will lie allowed even his ear during working hours outside such places.
