HERRING INDUSTRY
Scottish Fishermen Appeal To Government (Received October 18, 7.5~p.m.) London, October 18. More than 1000 representatives of the herring fishing industry, including fishermen, .Scots fishergirls and fishing port members of Parliament, at .T mass meeting at Great Yarmouth appealed for Government funds to save the industry, which they claimed was doomed toy the increased costs of production and subsidised foreign competition. The Clyde fishermen arc supporting the Yarmouth appeal ;rnd demand the abolition of the Herring Industry Board, which it w.Ts claimed failed to obtain markets, while its restrictions were useless.
