Junior Championship At
Waiwetu The lilial of the Waiwetu Golf Club’s junior championship over 36. holes, played on Sunday between P. Wallace and R. Jones, resulted in a win for the former, 7 up and 6 to play. t . Saturday’s bogey was won by A. Lewis (10), who was 3 up. Next best were; LI. L. Allan (18) and H. Bice (12), both 2 up, and D. J. Oliver (6), 1 up. Sunday morning’s bogey produced some good scoring, as follows: It. Roberts (1J)» 4 up; A. Lewis (40) and It. W. Gray (11), 3 up; II Bice (12), 2 up; and J. Golder (11), all square. „ . tflie dual stroke competition on Sunday afternoon was won by I). J- Oliver (8) and H. Bice (16), their total net score being 141, the next best being L. L. Mitchell (8) and A. McDonald (14). 147; N. J. Sherwood (8) and L. Farrant (22), 148. F. Smith, a visitor from the Titahi club, was in good form. Playing on a 12 handicap, he did a net GG and was 3 up on bogey. Waiwetu Ladies’ Club The bogey competition at the Waiwetu ladies’ club for the monthly spoon resulted in a tie between Miss M. Kennedy and miss Frazer, 4 down. The hidden holes competition lor the secretary’s trophy also produced a tie, between Miss Reid and Miss M. Kennedy. Miss Frazer won the weekly ball. Winter Cup points were scored as follows; Miss Frazer 3, Miss Thodey and Mrs. Keys 2, Miss Horman 1. In the final for the Pulley Cup, Miss Barr •beat Miss Horman, 3 up and 2 to play. Tui Glen Club On Sunday at the Tui Glen golf links, the quarter-finals for the championshin were played. O’Connell boat Fraser, 8-<; Fergusson beat Keleher, 1 up; Hansen beat Swain, 2-1. In the Tui Glen Plate Judd beat Purdie, 2-1; Lockett beat Bloom, 2-1; Elliott,beat Lambert, 1 up; Lovett beat Pope, 2 up. During the morning a medal round played resulted in a win for L. Pilcher with a net 65, Fergusson, Lovett and Whitcher. tying for second place with a net 67 each. In the afternoon a stableford played resulted in a tie for lirfct place between Pilcher and Whitcher, 34 points. Ward and Stichbury were the runners-up with 33 points. Boulcott Club During the week-end, the Boulcott Golt Club played a match with a team from General Motors. The visitors were successful by 15 games to 8. Excellent scores were returned generally, and a new course record was established by McCourtie, or General Motors, who covered the first nine holes in 32, after playing faultless golf. Mudgway aud Wilson, 5 and 4; Spence and McArthur beat Longton and Mander, G and 4; Byrne and Dalton beat O’Connell aud Prince, 5 and 4; Goss and 11. Olsen beat H. Mudway and Webley, 5 and 4; Rooderkerk and Pegler beat Gosse and Lovelock, 4 and 3. The men’s final for the J. W. Jones Cups resulted iu Longton beating Church at the 19th. The cups were presented to tlie winners, Longton and Mrs. Prince, by the club captain at an informal gathering heldyju the clubhouse. Miramar Ladies’ Club The C grade pennant match played against Lhe Masiertou Ladies’ Golf Club at Miramar on Thursday resulted in a win for Miramar by 5 games to 2. The detailed results are as follows, visitors' names being mentioned first:—Mrs. Perry lost to Mrs. Brooks, 1 down; Mrs. Lee lost to Mrs. Houston, 4 and 2; Miss J. Wrigley tost to Mrs. Mcllraith, 3 and 1; Mrs. Cunningham lost to Mrs. Nimmo, 2 and 1; Mrs. Esau lost to Mrs. Torstonson, G and 5; Miss P. Botts beat Mrs. Combes, 3 aud 2; Miss B. Percy beat Mrs. Hornibrook, 4 and 3. The Miramar ladies’ club’s open tournament will begin ou Tuesday, October 19, and conclude on Thursday, October 21. A large number of entries have already been received, aud intending competitors are reminded that entries close to-morrow. Paekakariki Club A match between teams selected by the captain and secretary of the Paekakariki club was played ou 'Sunday, and resulted in a win for the secretary's team by 7 games to 6, with two games halved. Holton lost to J. Smith, B. Lynch lost to T. N. Page, J. Manning lost to H. Smith, J. Wilkinson beat IL Hook, and H. Marshall beat H. Rendall.
A Stableford bogey played in conjunction with the match was won by A. Murray, with 36 points. He covered the ■ course in 74. Next cards were: A. Jaggers 34, J. Sigby 33, F. Marshall 32, H. Lynch and fl. Rendall 31, and R. Hill 30 points. The finals for the intermediate and junior qhampionships were played during the week-end. In the intermediate J. Hanratty beat F. Smith 4 and 3. lu the junior J. Warring beat P. Page 4 and 2. Both matches were eveuly contested. After the morning round the finalists were all square. In the afternoon, however, Hanratty and Warring settled down to their game better than their opponents and won well. Mornington Club With ideal weather conditions prevailing, it was little wonder that the scoring in pie Mornington senior and junior Canadian foursomes on Sunday was of a very high order. The winners, J. Watkins aud H. J. B. Curruthers, who are both middle handicap players, continued splendidly in the morning to cover the course in a gross 70. which gave them a comfortable lead with a net 58. In the afternoon they slipped a little and did a net 68. Their total of 126, however, was -three strokes in front of the field. The next best cards were: A. E. Clarke and L. Cocker, 64-65-129; L. W. McGirr and P. Kennedy, 64-67-131; D. B. Stratmore and W. C. Ryan. 67-65-132; It. T. MeElligott and George Estall, 67-66-133; A. Thomson and H. Wilson. 70-63-133; C. Tonks and K. Smith, 68-65-133; C.
