By Telegraph—Press Association.
Auckland, October I
The graves of the New Zealand and. Australian soldiers who died in Belgium during the'Great War continue to be immaculately kept, according to Mr. N. R. Mighell, chairman of the Australian Repatriation Commission, who arrived in the Monterey from San Francisco on his way back to Melbourne after visiting England for the coronation celebrations. He said all the graves be had seen looked fresh and new, and flowers and lawns were growing everywhere about them. As an instance of the manner in which Belgians were apparently determined not to forget the assistance of the British Empire, he said every night at Menin Gate in Ypres, a Belgian guard turned out and stood at the salute while the “Last Post” was sounded.
