Shooting Tame Birds
.Sir, —I heartily agree with “H.N.W.'s” letter on the shooting of tame birds. It is a disgrace to New Zealand that this so-railed snort should be permitted here, when it is” forbidden as being too barbarous in England. The S.I’.C.A. throughout the country should co-operate, and not allow the matter to rest until the law has been altered. If the S.P.C.A. is too weak to make an effective protest, then let a meeting be called in each town and arrangements made to ask the local M.P. to bring the matter up in the House without delay. There must surely be some members who would not be indifferent to the cruelty which is being inflicted on these helpless birds. If they feel that it should be stopped, it is well within their power to have the law altered. —I am, etc.. .x>. Palmerston North, September 29.
