Ex-Chicago Gunman Stated to be a former United States “gunman,” and to have served terms ot imprisonment in - American jails, Raymond Cramer, aged 46, was bound over at Ealing, London, last month, charged with being found in a house garden for an unlawful purpose. He was advised to get into touch with the Salvation Army or the Church Army for help. A detective told the magistrates that Cramer, who was an Englishman, had four previous convictions. In 1922 he was sentenced at Cleveland, United States, to 10 to 25 years’ imprisonment for armed robbery. Three years later he was sent to prison for a term of three to 20 years at Chicago for robbery in the first degree, and in 1926 he received a three to 20 years’ sentence for holding up a butcher with a revolver and stealing 120 dollars. He was deported from America twice. Cramer’s ' son, continued the detective, Is an officer in the United States’ Navy. His second wife'divorced him when he was sentenced at Cleveland.

Cramer pleaded with the magistrates that he had never had a chance to live honestly. .He promised that in future he would behave himself. The chairman declared the Bench realised that it was risky to bind Cramer over, but the magistrates were willing to take the chance.
