SHANGHAI ROCKED

Japanese Drop 6001 b. Bombs THREE NANKING RAIDS 7563 Chinese Civilians So Far Killed By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright (Received September 28, 1.30 a.m.) Shanghai, September 27. Japanese bombers dropped a dozen 6001 b. bombs, the largest, yet, near the north station. The explosions' rocked the entire city. The Japanese claim that in three raids on Nanking to-day they destroyed a sulphuric acid plant and damaged aeroplane works which have British affiliations. A collation of reports shows that 7563 Chinese civilians have so far been killed in raids on 87 cities and towns. The Japanese spokesman contends that the total is exaggerated. The largest number of casualties in any Canton raid is only 20.
