Mr. J. Blyth, Wanganui, left from Wellington by the steamer express last night on a visit to Christchurch.

Dr. R. M. Barrer. Ph.D., Cambridge, son of Mr. T. R. Barrer, Mirsterton, who was recently awarded the.degree of D.Sc. (N.Z.), has received a further distinction, having been elected, a Fellow of Clare College, a fellowship tenable for three years. He intends to continue his research work at Cambridge in spite of having been offered important posts both in London and abroad. Dr. Barren's research worklias received signal praise in a new book from the Oxford University Press, "The Mechanism of Contact Catcalysis,’’ by R. IT. Griffith.
