YESTERDAY’S WEATHER
Wellington.—lt was overcast: in the early part of the morning, with a gentle southerly, but the elouds gradually dispersed and the afternoon was fine and sunny, the wind turning to a light north-westerly. The minimum temperature on Sunday night was 46.3 deg., the maximum yesterday 59.8 deg., and the temperature at 3 p.m. 56.9 deg. Palmerston North. — Heavy showers of rain, accompanied by a little hail, were experienced on Sunday night. A light shower fell on Monday morning but the overcast sky then cleared considerably and the afternoon was warm and sunny. . , Wanganui.— Cloudy all day with a strong westerly wind and occasional showers. The sea was rough. At 5 p.m. the, baromfj.er reading was 30.12 in., and the glass had a rising tendency. Wai pukura.it.— Bright and sunny morning but very heavy showers in the early afternoon,'when the weather turned colder. Napier and Hastings.— Overcast with some sunshine. Light showers fell toward the evening. Auckland. — A fresh south-west wind with passing showers. The maximum temperature was 59deg. The barometer showed a rising tendency, the reading at 5 p.m. being 30.15 in. Christchurch. — Fine and sunny, with a light easterly breeze. The barometer fell slightly and registered 29.88 in. at 5 p.m. Dunedin. — Fine and mild, though the sky was dull at times and rain threatened in the late afternoon. The maximum temperature was 55deg. The barometer rose iu the afternoon and read 29.90 in. in the early evening.
