The report of the matron of the Sir Truby and Lady King Karitane Hospital, presented at the monthly meeting of the Wellington branch of Blanket Society, mentions that _ tiie> Hastings triplets continue to thrive,, and now smile and respond to attention. Mary now weighs 101 b., Elizabeth IOLb. lOoz. and Rose 101 b. 4oz. Mrs. JI. Jowett, president, was m the chair at the meeting, at whtich feeling reference was made to the late Mrs. W. Luke, a devoted worker on behalf of the society. A motion of, sympathy with her family was passed, members standing in silence as a,tribute to her memory. A motion was passed in respect of the'members of the family of the late Dr. Ada Paterson, whose help given to the Phinket Society had always been so jjMich appreciated. It was slated that the new working committee set up in August for the coming year had met during the mqnihMrs. Good was appointed Chairman of tiie Karitane house committee, and Mrs. Vickerman of the Piunket Rooms committee. Headquarters had notified that the New Zealand conference of the society was to be held at Wellington on November 4 and 5. Remits were discussed and approved and forwarded to headquarters. . Tiie committee has decided to holdj a children’s plain and fancy-dress partyj on October. 16 at St. Francis Halb"' Prizes will be given for the most original, the most artistic and the cheapest fancy-dress costumes.

Visitors for the month included mem-, bers of the coastal towns committee and Miss Matthews with 50 girls from the Kilbirnie School. On each occasion the nurses gave the bathing demonstration and the visitors were shown every aspect of the work at tne hospital.

Old Girls' Association to Hold Concert On Thursday evening at 8 o'clock the Wellington College Old Girls’ Association will hold a concert at the Girls’ College, Pipitea Street. The programme will be a particularly good one, those taking part being Mrs. Walter Dunean, Miss Myra Sawyer, Miss Dorothy Downing, Miss Dorothy Daniels, and many others. The funds raised will lie devoted to the Ena Dawson ScholarHlilp Fund. Ex-pupils and their friends are urged to help the association by their presence.

Dramatic Society Meets An enjoyable evening was spent recently by the Wellington East Old Girls’ Dramatic Society when the play “Close Quarters,” by W. O. Soniin (adapted by Gilbert Lennox), was capably read by Misses Nola Millar and jean Murdoch assisted by Miss Helen Mitchell. The members were informed that the next meeting would be in their new room in the New Zealand Express Company building, Hunter Street, and would take the form of a “house-wa ruling pa rt y.”
