LABOUR PARTY DANCE AT SILVERSTREAM

The Silverstreain branch of the New Zealand Labour Party held a successful concert and dance recently. The programme included dance items by Keith Wood and Barbara Dawson, pupils of Miss Peggy Hastings. Elocution by Miss Frances Campbell, and songs by Miss Frances McGhie. Mr. Burridge, with his dolb Sammy, also entertained. The concert was followed by supper and a dance. Among those present were the mayor of Upper Hutt, Mr. A. J. McCurdy, Mr. and Mrs. P. Dowwi. Orr, Mr. and Mrs. H. Orr, Mr. and Mrs. Haunabil, Mr. and Mrs. Harlem, Mr. and Mrs. Goodland, Mr. and Mrs. Andrews, Mr. and Mrs. McCrae, Mr. and Mrs. Glover, Mr. and Mrs. Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Dawson, Mesdames fidley, Blair, McKaoCampbell, Stroud, F. La wry, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, Petone, yesterday fined’ Francis Brown Tait, accountant, £lO, and suspended his driving licence for three months on a charge of being intoxicated while in charge of a car. SeniorSergeant H. C. D. Wade, who prosecuted, said a traffic inspector stopped Tait on the Hutt Road after the races on Saturday and, as a result, the charge was laid.
