HARRIER RUNS

Presbyterian Clubs’ Field Day The Presbyterian Harrier Club held its annual field day at Island Bay on Saturday, a'nd. in spite o£ a dull and windy day. a most enjoyable afternoon was spent by’ the 52 harriers who participated. Six teams competed under the leadership of Congalton, Seelye, Clayton, Armstrong, Pumphrey, and Jardine. The events, v’hicli were all conducted on the sand, with the exception of the relay, were:— JOO yards, long jump, BSO yards, ball competition, 220 yards, three-legged race, 440 yards, leap-frog, wheelbarrow race, and one mile relay. Right up to the last event Seelye s team was leading easily, there having been some keen tussles in the wheelbarrow and three-legged races, much to the amusement of the onlookers. Jardine’s team; who were then running a close second, managed to outrun the rest of the field, however, and beat Seelye’s team by four points. The winning team was: Jardine, Gibbons, Stewart, Wainwright, Teuton; Tomlinson, and R. Morris. Next Saturday’s run, the final one for attendance purposes, will be held at Wadestown. Methodist Club . Twenty Methodist runners followed an interesting trail of about five and a half miles from the ’ Thorndon Methodist Church down Tinakori Road, up the Rigi to Northland, thence up to the wireless station on Tinakori Hill down to Wilton’s Bush, through the bush to Wadestown, following the tram lines back to the church. The trail was laid by the three J ngram brothers, the runners going out in two packs under the leadership of D. Walker and C. Thompson.
