INVALIDED HOME

Lieutenant-Commander

Torlesse

Dominion Special Service.

Auckland, September 9.

After having experienced ill-health for some time, Lieutenant-Commander Torlesse, of H.M.S. Endeavour, left Auckland to-nigbt by the Limited express for Wellington. He will sail by the Mataroa for England, having been invalided from duties with the survey ship while she is charting the New Zealand coastline. Lieutenant-Commander Torlesse will be succeeded by an officer from England, though it is not yet known when relief will' be effected or who will be selected. His' departure will mean a distinct loss to the ship because he was particularly well qualified for his duties. _____
