MARRIED BY MAYOR OF NEW YORK
Mr. and Mrs. H. Gatty
Dominion Special Service. Auckland, September 3.
The marriage of Mr, and Mrs. 11. Gatty, who arrived by the Mariposa to make their home in Auckland, was performed at the Summer City Hall, Long Island, New York, by the mayor of New York, Mr. F. La Guardia. Mr. Gatty said it was considered an honour to be married by the mayor of New York, who rarely performed wedding ceremonies. Mr. La Guardia, however, was a war-time flyer and a member of various aviation organisations and had known Mr. Gatty for some years.
Before her marriage Mrs. Gatty was Miss Feuna Bolderhey, Amsterdam, Holland. She was visiting New York with her parents when she met Mr. Gatty.
