NOVEL STAY-IN STRIKE

Australian Timber Mill Melbourne, September 3. A novel stay-in strike is in progress at the Federal timber mill at Dowelltown, 30 men being involved. The men asked to be able to finish work early on .Saturdays in order that they might walk 17 miles to town in time to see a football match. The management agreed, and then found that one Saturday a workman had advanced the clock by seven minutes, so the arrangement was cancelled. The men promptly decided on a stay-in strike. They leave the works every Saturday morning, remain in town for the week-end, and return to stay-in each Monday. This has been going on for seven weeks.
