DIPLOMATIC BREACH

Czech Minister Leaves Lisbon Lisbon, September 2. As a sequel to the breaking Off of diplomatic relations between Portugal and Czechoslovakia, the Czech Minister has left Lisbon. An official statement issued in Prague on August 19 concerning the diplomatic rupture declared : “Portugal recently negotiated with a Czechoslovak ammunition works for the supply of arms. After finding that owing to previous engagements to supply the Czechoslovak army the firm concerned was unable to deliver the type of arms specified, Portugal was offered arms of a different type. Portugal regarded the new offer as a refusal of the previous order, and instructed her Minister to leave Prague. We want to make it clear that no political or diplomatic conflict existed or exists between Czechoslovakia and Portugal.”
