Mr. J. L. Saunders to Act as Chairman STATEMENT BY MINISTER The announcement yesterday of the personnel of the Dental Council appointed in terms of the Dentists Act passed last session of Parliament was amplified by the Minister of Health, Hon. P. Fraser, in a statement issued last evening. Mr. Fraser said that Messrs. W. P. Sommerville, Wellington, and J. T. Cooper, Dunedin, had been chosen from the North and South Islands respectively as representatives of those dentists who were not members of the New Zealand Dental Association. Their appointment would fulfil an arrangement entered Into between the association and the non-assoclation dentists. Professor R. B. Dodds is the dean of the Dental School in the University of Otago, and Professor C. E. Kerens is the dean of the Medical School in the same institution. Dr. P. P. Lynch has been appointed following his nomination by the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association. Messrs. J. N, Rlshworth, Auckland, and O. V. Davies, of Dunedin, were elected by postal ballot recently to represent the registered dentists of the North and South Islands respectively. The Act provides that the first chairman of the council shall be the Direc-tor-General of Health or hie deputy, and in this connection the Minister stated that arrangements have been made for Mr. J. L. Saunders, Director of the Dental Division of the Department, to occupy the position of chairman on behalf of the Director-General.
