YESTERDAY’S WEATHER
Wellington.—Dull and gloomy, with occasional light rain, accompanied by a cool south-easterly breeze. Minimum temperature on Thursday night, 45.8 deg.; maximum yesterday, 49.7 deg.; at 3 p.m., 47.2 deg. Palmerston North.—Though the morning broke bright and fine after light rain over-night, clouds loomed up about noon. However, it held fine; light north-east wind. Masterton.—Dull and overcast, with some moderate ruin showers; cold southerly wind. Wanganui.—Light and steady rain set iu at 3 p.m., but at 8 p.m., though the rain had not abated, the barometer reading was 29.80 in., and the glass had a rising tendency. A moderate southeasterly wind all day; sea smooth. Waipukurau.—Dull and overcast; temperature colder; glass unchanged. Napier and Hastings.—A fine morning; overcast in the afternoon; light rain toward evening. Auckland.—Overcast and thick misty weather with rain, the wind being light from the north-west. Temperatures were mild. The barometer began to fall in the morning, and at 5 p.m. was steady at 29.75 in. Christchurch. —The sun shone brightly in the early morning, but the sky soon clouded and a little light rain fell. A light south-west breeze changed to the north-east. The maximum temperature was 51.2 deg., and the barometer was steady at 30.05 in. at 7.30 p.m. Dunedin.—Apart from a brief period in the afternoon when the suri broke through heavy clouds, the day was dull rind cold witli a fresh north-east breeze. The maximum temperature was 50deg., and the barometer read about 30.10 in. throughout the day.
