FORECAST FOR TO-DAY’S WEATHER.
Cloudy to overcast, with mist; scattered rain, Liter becoming more general. Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. to-day: An anti-cyclone has been passing to the north, and a slight one of New Zealand. Pressures are, however, low and conditions disturbed over tbe greater part of the Tasman Sea, and especially in the south-west portion, where an intense depression is located. , . Westerly winds north of Kawhia and East Cape, and northerly winds on the west coast of the South Island: elsewhere southerlies prevailing at first, but northerlies gradually setting in generally: force strong at places between Cook Strait find East Cape; otherwise moderate, but Ifer increasmg. Seas rather rough to rough north of Kaikoura and in parts of the Cook bhatt area; elsewhere in New Zealand waters moderate, but rising on the west Moderate to strong and increasing winds in the eastern Tasman Sea; westerly 1 at first in the northern portion, and easterly in the far southern portion, bu northerlies soon prevailing generally: seas rough. rain in Weather cloudy to overcast, with much mist or fog in places, scattered nun 1 most districts, but later more widespread and in places heavy rain probab .
