Increase in Membership A large Increase in membership over that of the previous year is recorded in the annual report of the Wellington branch of the Ex-Royal Naval Men’s Association, presented at their annual meeting on Thursday night. The Anzac Day and Jutland Day parades had been well attended and the association was at present engaged in improving the furniture and fittings in its newly-acquired clubrooms in Manners Street. Two Sunday picture screenings had been held, with very satisfactory financial results. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: President, Mr. C. Crouch; vice-presidents, Mr. H. W. Hayward, Mr. H. C. Allison; hon. secretary, Mr. H. Sparks; hon. treasurer, Mr. R. Bateman; trustees, Messrs. R. Harris, 13. J. Miles and W. A. McCabe; executive. Messrs. 11. Harber, W. Hardiman, H. Mather, W. Hardy, A. H. Veale and N. Dawson; minutes secretary, Mr. E. E. Corner, pick visitors, Messrs. L. Turner, H. Mather; standard bearer, Mr. W. J. Condon; steward, Mr. E. J. Miles; hon. auditor, Mr. J. Culleton.
Proprietors of business premises in the capital have .been circularised by the organising secretary of the Wellington Business Tenants’ Association and informed that at a meeting held last week it was decided to form the association and that a skeleton executive had been appointed pro tem. The stated aim of the association is to bring all tenants of business premises and factories under one executive for the common good and protection, and “by organisation and representation to the Government to use the association to have placed on the ' Statute Book legislation to cover and protect those tenants not at present covered by the provisions contained in the Fair Rents Bill.”
