GALES IN TASMAN
Coastal Craft Shelter Melbotfihie, August 5. ’The Waitaki arrived from Bluff several hours late, owing to strong gales and high seas along the southern coast and in the Tasman. A heavy coastal storm caused many small craft bound for Melbourne to shelter at small islands in Bass Strait.
