FORECAST FOR TO-DAY’S WEATHER.
Rain in most districts; temperatures very cold. Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. to-uay. A rather intense depression is crossing the Dominion, to? vest being west of the Cook Strait area and to the s°ufhcyclone still covers Australia and is extending slowly over the Tasman Sea. Moderate to strong northerly to westerly winds, of gale force; a t I’ lacef,^P’ 1 S t ’ larly in the central districts and the far south; backing soon to southerly in the latter area, and strong southerlies becoming general to-day. Rough seas about Cook- and Foveanx Straits; elsewhere in New Zealand waters slight to moderate but rising, except north of ILast cape. Southerly winds, strong to gate force, with generally rough seas, in the eastern Tasman Sea. . , Unsettled and squally weather, with rain in most on rS.® g'!L levels, and snow or hail also probable on some of the low countrj. lempeia tures becoming very cold.
