NEW POST OFFICE

Christchurch Building The contract for the construction of the No. 1 block of the new chief post office for Christchurch has been let to Mr. W. Williamson, of that city, who began the work last Monday. The No, 1 block is the big live-floor block on the Hereford Street frontage of the post office area. The architect is Mr. Cecil Wood, of Christchurch, and the term of the contract is 18 months. As soon as this block, which is being erected in reinforced concrete, is finished, the whole of the business will be transferred there, and no time will then be lost in the demolition of the existing post office and the completion of the five-story scheme over the area fronting the Square.
