TEES HITS OBJECT
Voyage Through Straits in Chathams By Telegraph—Press ASfloeiatio-. Christchurch, August 5. The steamer Tees, now at Lyttelton, Is reported to have struck an object while passing through the straits between Owenga and Pitt Islands in the Chathams last week. The vessel was in the straits at m dnight battling with heavy seas when she ran into a wall of water, bumped heavily, and was carried on by a big following sea. When the vessel bumped she lurched heavily and shipped much water, causing a good deal alarm among the ‘2l passengers. Tees is to be docked at Lyttelton for survey.
