Chinese Greengrocer Fined For running a greengrocery shop at Island Bay without a licence, and for failing to keep it clean, a Chinese, Ngan Bing, .was fined £2 and costs when he appeared before Mr. AV. I'. Stilwell, S.M., in the AVellington Magistrate'sCourt yesterday. A health inspector said he visited the shop aud found it and the yard unsatisfactory; the shelves of the shop were J covered with an accumulation of old • paper and vegetable matter, and there was a quantity of decaying and other vegetables lying alwut the yard. He had been there several times since, and not until yesterday morning had the place been properly cleaned up. A licence had been taken out. Ngan Bing said he had been in business there two years. “AVheu the public buy vegetables from you they are entitled to expect cleanliness.” said the, magistrate.
