BALLAST JETTISONED

British Yacht Endeavour (Received August 4, 7.30 p.m.) Newport, August 4. The British yacht Endeavour has had two and a half tons of lead ballast Jettisoned. It is hoped this will, increase her speed in light winds. After an examination of the Endeavour’s hull,'which was found to be clean, Mr. Sopwith said: “There must be some explanation of what happened. We were going along nicely, holding well into the wjnd, when suddenly she began to lose way. We eased off and the Ranger sharpened, pointing close to the wind and forcing us to back over. We lost the race right there.”
