Vice-Regal. The Governor-General, Lord Galway, presided at a meeting of the Executive Council yesterday morning. The Hon. F. Waite, M.L.C., arrived at Wellington from the south yesterday. The Hou. Adam Hamilton, Leader of the Opposition, returned to Wellington from Palmerston. North yesterday, and' left for the South Island by the interisland express steamer last night. Mr. 11. B. Rigg, director of the Goldberg Advertising Agency, will leave by the Wanganella this evening on a business trip to Sydney and Melbourne. The Rev. W. Hamblett, Dunedin, arrived at Wellington from the south yesterday. Dr D. MeK. Dickson, Christchurch, arrived at Wellington from the south yesterday. Mr. J. M. Cameron, Hastings, left for the south last night by the steamer express. The Rev. W. J. Hands, Christchurch, was a passenger for the south by thfi steamer express last night. Dr.' P. A. Ardagh, Christchurch, travelled south by the steamer express last night. Mr. E. J. Rishworth, of Cory-Wright and Salmon, Ltd., returned to Wellington from Auckland yesterday. Mr. P. W. Breen, Dunedin, arrived from'the south by the steamer express yesterday. The Hon. T. O’Byrne, M.L.C., Invercargill, left by the Maunganui on Tuesday on a cruise through the Pacific Islands. Mr. Geoffrey Longuet, Wellington, travelled to Auckland last night by the Limited express. He will leave for Australia, by the Awatea to-morrow. Mr. F. j. Shanks, deputy-director of the Post and Telegraph Department, has returned to Wellington from the South Island. Mr. A. Bruce, New Zealand manager of Batons and Baldwins, Ltd., returned to Wellington yesterday from Australia in the Wanganella. Mr. S. F. Martin, general manager for New Zealand of the Texas (Australasia) Company, Ltd., returned to Wellington yesterday by the Wanganella after a month’s stay in Australia. Mr. G. McNamara, Director-General of the Post and Telegraph Department, who represented New Zealand at the Imperial Cable Conference in London, is a passenger in the Mataroa, which is due to arrive at Auckland, on Thursday next week. Mr. E. J. Howard, M.P. for Christchurch South and Chairman of Committees of the House of Representatives, and Mr. F. W. Schramm, M.P. for Auckland East, are passengers by the Otranto, which left London on July 17 and is due at Fremantle on August 17.
