Scott, alias Bob Scott, allegedly forged a cheque for £lO/10/-, and to-day in the Magistrate’s Court at Masterton he was charged with the offence before Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M. Sergeant T. H. Dyer said accused was arrested this morning on a warrant issued at Hawera on March 4, 1921. He had been in communication with the police there and had been instructed to ask for a remand to Hawera on Friday next. The magistrate: Is this the same defendant who was before me recently? Sergeant Dyer: Yes. He is on bail to appear at Wellington this month for forgery charges committed here. The magistrate asked if it were necessary to remand accused to appear at Hawera. It he would admit the charge it would obviate the necessity of going there. “He has so many other charges to face that I don’t suppose this will make much difference to him,” he commented. Accused then pleaded guilty to the offence and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
