President Roosevelt’s View Washington, August 3. President Roosevelt has sent a letter to Senator Thomas objecting to the latter’s proposal to create a sliding scale of values by altering the dollar’s theoretical gold content. The President warned Senator Thomas that it would be dangerous to attempt an adjustment in accordance with any rigid pattern, and declared that the stabilisation of the dollar must come from a balanced and orderly recovery through entire national economy. He called the Tripartite Monetary Agreement a step toward the external stabilisation of the dollar.
