FORECAST FOR TO-DAY’S WEATHER.
Mostly fair to tine and mild, but cloud increasing. Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. to-day: — An anti-cyclone now covers the Tasman Sea and New Zealand, while a shallow depression extends from west of Tasmania south-eastward to southern latitudes. South-westerly to southerly winds north of New Plymouth and Castlepoint; elsewhere westerly to north-westerly; light to moderate generally, but later freshening somewhat about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Seas slight to moderate in New Zealand waters, but rising later in the Cook and Foveaux Straits areas. Light variable winds and'slight to moderate seas in the northern portion of the eastern Tasman Sea; freshening north-westerly winds, with moderate but rising seas, in the southern portion, ■Weather for the most part fair to fine and mild, but cloud increasing and some . rain developing shortly in the western and far southern districts of the South Island.
