Returned to Owner. Black Marlin has been returned to his owner, Mr. H. Kean Clarke, Whangarei. When the Lueullus gelding won at the last Waikato. meeting, his winter prospects were r.garded highly, but an injury made him backward for the Ellerslie carnival, and he bled before he fell at Trentham.

Taranaki’s Year. The annual report of the Taranaki Jockey Club, presented at the annual general meeting at New Plymouth on Thursday night, stated that the accounts disclosed a profit of £399/6/-, after having made provision for bad debts £5O 18/6, depreciation £B5O, and a further sum of £l5O which bad been transferred to the credit of the special account to provide for further expenditure on repairs and renovations to the club’s property. Stakes were increased for tbe Christmas and autumn meetings' by £970 to £4940. Weather conditions were fair for the Christmas meeting, and favourable in February. Entries for the 24th Taranaki Stakes and. the Taranaki Plate had closed. They wefe most satisfactory, the increase hr the 24tb Stakes being 37 per cent., and the Taranaki Plate 88 per cent. Stakes were considerably increased in both races.

A Jockey’s Tip. Maurice McCartcn thinks that .Yurie's Star, whom he piloted to victory in the Newmarket Handicap, will run out the journey in the .-Caulfield Cup. "He goes alon- in effortless fashion,” • said JlcCarten. "and his speed will bother the plodders.” Queen of Song’s Dani.

Differential, the dam of Queen of Song, is booked to go under the hummer at the Grand National meeting. Differential was foaled in 1924, and is in foal to Night Raid.
