The annual report of the Taranaki Jockey Club, presented at the annual general meeting at New Plymouth on Thursday night, stated that the accounts disclosed a profit of £399/6/-, after having made provision for bad debts £5O 18/6, depreciation £B5O, and a further sum of £l5O which bad been transferred to the credit of the special account to provide for further expenditure on repairs and renovations to the club’s property. Stakes were increased for tbe Christmas and autumn meetings' by £970 to £4940. Weather conditions were fair for the Christmas meeting, and favourable in February. Entries for the 24th Taranaki Stakes and. the Taranaki Plate had closed. They wefe most satisfactory, the increase hr the 24tb Stakes being 37 per cent., and the Taranaki Plate 88 per cent. Stakes were considerably increased in both races.
