BUDAPEST QUARTET
Charity Concert on Tuesday The first public recital programme in Sydney by the Budapest String Quartet was marked by scenes of great enthusiasm. Wellington music-lovers who are fortunate enough to hear these worldfamous musicians at the Town Hall on Tuesday—their only public appearance in the city—will doubtless be equally enthusiastic. Rarely to this side of the world comes the opportunity to see and hear the world’s best musicians at their best. The Melbourne “Age” described the quartet’s visit to Australia as “epochmaking, affording a unique opportunity by which musical culture may be enormously advanced and much rare pleasure gained.” The fact that these brilliant artists are appearing in the cause cf charity makes possible the popular prices that are to be charged for admission. Miss Mary Pratt, a talented South Island contralto, will contribute to what should prove a delightful programme.
