NEGLIGENT DRIVING
Motorist Fined at Ashburton By Telegraph—Press Association. Ashburton, July 30. Clarence S. Thomas was fined £lO for negligent driving and £2 for driving without Sufficient lights and was discharged for failing to report an accident. Costs Jot tilled £3/17/10. Evidence showed that In the evening half-light defendant used only parking lights. After overtaking another car he struck a boy cyclist, whom the other driver, using full lights, saw 400 yards saway. Defendant stated that approaching lights dazzled him. He did not report the accident as the boy appeared only dazed. It was subsequently revealed that he had a badly sprained wrist. • The magistrate remarked it was a borderline case.
